Scallops
What is a Scallop?
Scallops are bivalve mollusks similar to oysters, mussels, and clams. The part we eat is called the adductor muscle, which opens and closes the shell. The muscle is round and tender when cooked, with a touch of sweetness and just enough briny saltiness.
Sea scallops are delicious and incredibly easy to prepare, making them among the most beloved seafood options.
How to Cook Scallops
Cooking sea scallops takes minutes. There are many recipes, but the easiest way to prepare scallops is to brown them in butter on top of your stove. Season the scallops with your favorite herbs for two and a half minutes per side.
Please note that consuming raw or undercooked animal foods, including scallops, may increase your risk of contracting a foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions.
